Join Us Every Friday on Teams

Every Friday from 10:30 a.m. to noon, team members from KU Marketing & Communications and KU IT teams are on hand to answer KU CMS questions on our Microsoft Teams channel "KU CMS Sunflower User Group." If you are not already a member of the Team, visit KU CMS Sunflower User Group to join.


CMS Essentials I

Learn the basics of the new KU CMS - Sunflower (Drupal 8).

In this hands-on workshop, you will act as an editor in a sandbox website and be guided through common tasks, such as creating accessible pages, editing pages and placing pages within the navigation of your website. You'll also learn about the different content types, cloneable templates, and sections available on a site.

CMS Essentials II and Site Admin

This course will be presented in two parts. Part 1 will cover additional features for editors, and Part 2 will cover features specific to site admins. Participants who are not site admins are free to leave after Part 1.

Part 1 of this workshop expands on the CMS Essentials I course with hands-on practice on additional content types in KU's new CMS Sunflower (Drupal 8).

Course Objectives

By the end of Part 1 of this course, you will be able to:

  • Create and edit a Contact page
  • Create staff and faculty profile directories
  • Create Image Collections
  • Create webforms
  • Create and manage blocks

By the end of Part 2 of this course, you will be able to:

  • Make sitewide changes to your site
  • Add editors and site admins to your site
  • Change appearance and content the footer
  • Create redirects from the configuration page
