Description
There are a number of requirements and configurable settings for content that appears in the site footer in KU CMS - Sunflower.
Departmental Links
- The departmental links section of the footer (right-middle column) is intended to be used for links to affiliated websites - preferably other KU sites.
- Prior to launch, the default departmental links must be updated or removed if not in use.
- Use no more than eight departmental links.
KU Global Footer Links
- The KU Global Footer Links (right-column) list is required and should not be removed.
- The link titles (e.g., Visit KU, Apply, Give, etc.) in have been standardized and should not be changed.
- Sites may update the link URLs to go to preferred destinations (e.g., Apply, Give).
Contact Info
- The contact section of the footer is required and must include an email address.
- Phone number and address are strongly recommended.
Accreditation Logos
- Accreditation logos are allowed, but required advanced development. Contact KU Web Services at webservices@ku.edu for assistance.
- Accreditation logos should be no more than 220px in width to correspond with the KU logo in the top left
How To
Configure Contact and Location Information
- Select Configuration
- In the KU Settings section, select KU Site Settings
- On the Contact and Location Information page, enter or update the following fields:
- Phone Number
- Location
- Street
- City
- State
- Zip code
- Bus Routes
- Select Save Configuration
- You may need to clear the site cache for your changes to appear immediately:
- In the black top menu select Configuration/Performance
- Select Clear all caches
Configure Social Media Links
- Select Configuration
- In KU Settings section, select Social Media
- On the SocialForm page, enter or update the following fields:
- Facebook URL
- Instagram URL
- Linkedin URL
- YouTube URL
- Twitter URL
- Pinterest URL
- Remove the URL from any social media channels your unit does not use.
- Select Save Configuration
URL fields left blank will be hidden in the footer
Configure Footer Color
- Select Appearance
- Select the Settings tab
- Select KU CMS -Sunflower
- Select preferred Footer Background Color:
- Night
- KU Blue
- White
- Select Save Configuration
Only make changes to the Footer Background Color field. Do not alter configuration settings for other fields.
Configure Footer Links – Left Column
- Log in
- Hover over the Departmental Links block to reveal the Edit icon
- Select the Edit icon
- Select Configure block
- Make sure Display title is unchecked
- Enter a Link title and Link URL for each link
- Drag items to reorder
- Add or remove link items via the Add link and Remove link buttons
- Strongly recommend no more than ten total Departmental Links
- Select Save block
Configure Footer Links – Right Column
- Log in
- Hover over the KU Global Footer Links block to reveal the Edit icon
- Select the Edit icon
- Select Configure block
- Make sure Display title is unchecked
- Link titles are set and cannot be changed
- Link order is set and cannot be changed
- Update the Link URL fields as needed
- Select Save block
Configure an Accreditation Logo in the Footer
This configuration process is advanced and requires some basic CSS knowledge. If you need assistance, please contact KU Web Services at webservices@ku.edu.
- Select Structure in the grey admin tool bar
- Select Block Layout
- Select the Custom Block Layout tab
- Select +Add Custom Block
- Select Basic Block
- Add a Block Description – Give it an easily identifiable name
- Add your logo image to Body field:
- Select the Image icon
- Locate or Upload your image file
- Select Select
- You will need to add a wrapper around the image to constrain the image size to the exact pixel size:
- Select Source
- Add the following wrapper around your <img> tag: <div style=“width=XX; height=XX;”><img></div>
- Accreditation logos should be no more than 220px in width to correspond with the KU logo in the top left
- Change Save as to Published
- Save
- Select Block layout
- Locate KU Footer First region in the block list and select the Place block button
- Locate your block and select the Place block button
- On the Configure block page uncheck Display title to hide the block title
- Select Save block
