News 3 - Prominent News


Description

This section displays three news articles, with the article headline, date, and the start of the article text with ellipses. There is an optional overall headline and an optional button, (or link,) leading to all news. There are also options to show or hide images and summaries for the two articles in the column next to the featured article..

The layout can be either left or right.

The section provides a way to include news on the homepage or a landing page.

Fields and Character Limits

Headline*

  • Character Limits: none
  • Help Text: Enter a section headline
  • Default Value: (empty)

Featured Articles*

  • Featured articles only
  • All news articles (Default Value)

Filter terms

  • Maximum Number of Terms: 3 or fewer terms recommended
  • Help Text: Enter filter terms as a comma separated list. Filter terms must match an existing tag. The filter terms field is only used if the Featured Articles option, "All news articles," is selected. If the "Featured articles only" option is selected, the filter terms field is hidden and ignored.
  • Default Value: (empty)

All News Link

  • URL
  • Link Text
  • Help Text: A valid link requires both URL and Link Text; however, this field is not required. Unlike the other News sections, clearing the link fields will not remove the "All News" link. Clear both fields to use the default link style, which uses the section headline and links to the full list of articles.

Where Can You Use This Section?

The section is available in the following templates and content types:

Content types

Adding to a new Content or Landing Page

  1. Enter the headline text, (a limit of 40 characters or less is recommended.)
  2. Select whether to include Featured articles only or All news articles.
  3. Enter filter terms as a comma separated list.
    • NOTE: Filter terms only apply when the All news articles option is selected, (see step number 2, above.)
  4. If using an All News button, enter the URL and Link text.
    • NOTE: To avoid using an All News button, leave both fields blank.
  5. Select Yes or No to display the Headline for the section, (defaults to YES.)
  6. Select whether to display Images for the two articles in the column next to the featured article, (defaults to YES.)
    • NOTE: Thumbnail images come with the news articles, and are added in the News Hub, during article creation.
  7. Select whether to display the Summaries for the two articles in the column next to the featured article.
  8. Select a style option for the background color, (defaults to WHITE.)
  9. Select Left or Right to indicate the orientation of the latest article, (defaults to RIGHT.)
  10. Select Button or Text to indicate how the All News link should be displayed, (defaults to BUTTON.)

Removing a Section

To permanently remove a section from a page:

  1. Select the vertical ellipsis to the right of the Edit button at the top-right of your section, select Remove
